Knowledge Generation in Rare Diseases: the Experience of the European Reference Networks
Dr. María del Mar Mañú Pereira a senior researcher with over 25 years of experience in translational research in rare haematological diseases, heading the Rare Anaemia Disorders Group at Vall d’Hebron Research Institute. She has been Scientific Coordinator of ERN-EuroBloodNet since 2016 and, since 2025, serves on the chairing Trio of the 24 ERN Coordinators, engaging with European institutions on rare diseases. She coordinates the ENROL and RADeep European registries and leads EU-funded projects including ERDERA and RealiseD. Her work addresses how European Reference Networks generate knowledge, expertise and training in rare diseases.
